John R. Cahill is a litigator and transactional lawyer with a traditional
commercial practice as well as special areas of focus: art law, employment,
and intellectual property. John handles a broad range of complex commercial
litigation and transactions for businesses and individuals, including matters
arising out of contracts, intellectual property, insurance, and many other
business matters. He successfully represents clients in state and federal
trial and appellate courts, as well as in leading arbitration venues such

John is also known for his representation of those in the art world,
including leading collectors, art dealers, advisors, appraisers, galleries,
lenders, nonprofits, estates, and auction houses. For a number of years,
he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the fine art auction
house now known as Phillips, de Pury & Company. With considerable experience
representing those in disputes arising out of claims to the title and
the authenticity of art work, Mr. Cahill provides both representation in
lawsuits and counseling to businesses, nonprofits, and individuals engaged
in the sale, acquisition, lending, insuring, copyrighting and financing
of fine and decorative art. John is a member of the Art Law Committee of
the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and frequently writes

John has also handled a wide variety of employment matters
for both employers and employees. While this often involves negotiating
employment and separation agreements, John is experienced in employment
litigation and is frequently called upon to handle an emergency application
for an employment-related temporary restraining order and to try employment

John received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School
in 1987 and graduated from Harpur College, Binghamton University. John started
his practice with the leading international law firm now known as Torys
and, in addition to in-house position at Phillips, was a partner at Berger
Stern & Webb LLP and, most recently, counsel to Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman
LLP. He is admitted to practice before courts of the State of New York,
Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, and the
10th Circuit.

James P. Lynn concentrates his practice on the representation of businesses and individuals in intellectual property, corporate, employment and general commercial matters. Jim's practice includes both transactional and litigation matters.
Jim provides advice on business, intellectual property and employment issues
to such varied clients as an international software development and services
company based in New York and Mumbai, India, several national non-profit
organizations and a number of other businesses throughout the country. In
that regard, he has negotiated numerous multi-million dollar transactions
involving Purchase and Sale Agreements, License Agreements, Leases and other
types of corporate Agreements.
As a litigator, Jim has successfully tried cases and otherwise litigated
a wide variety of matters in federal and state courts throughout the United
States, as well as the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and the tribunals
of the American Arbitration Association and the New York Stock Exchange.
Jim has also successfully argued appeals before the United States Court
of Appeals and New York's Appellate Division. He is a member of the New
York Bar as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and
Federal Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern,
Northern and Western Districts of New York, and the United States Court
of Federal Claims. Jim belongs to the American Bar Association, the New
York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of
New York.
Jim graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1983, and received
his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1987. Prior to starting
his own practice in 2003, Jim was a partner in the intellectual property
firm of Lieberman & Nowak, LLP, where he practiced patent, trademark
and copyright litigation and licensing. From 1987 to 1997, Jim practiced
commercial litigation with the firm of Haythe & Curley (now Torys) in
New York.

Ronald W. Adelman is a litigator and transactional lawyer. He has broad experience in virtually all areas of commercial practice, with a particular focus in the fields of intellectual property (copyright, trademark and related matters, and entertainment law) and defamation.
Ron has successfully represented clients at all stages of litigation, including numerous appeals, in courts, in arbitrations, and in administrative tribunals, most notably the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has also frequently achieved highly favorable results for clients prior to the commencement of formal litigation. His transactional expertise is centered on providing general advice to clients and drafting complex agreements, particularly with respect to the licensing of intellectual property and entertainment and art-related matters.
Ron graduated from Columbia College in 1984 and from Fordham Law School, cum laude, in 1989, where he served as the Writing and Research Editor of the Fordham Law Review. He received an LL.M. from Columbia Law School in media and telecommunications law in 1996. Ron served as a law clerk to Judge William H. Timbers of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 1989-90, and subsequently worked as a litigation associate at Debevoise & Plimpton (1990-93), Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler (1993-95) and Kramer, Levin, Naftalis & Frankel (1997-2002). From 2002 to 2007, Ron was counsel to Robert S. Meloni, P.C., specializing in the fields of entertainment and intellectual property law. He is admitted to practice in New York, in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Paul A. Winick concentrates his practice on the litigation
of a wide variety of businesses disputes, with particular focus on intellectual
property and unfair competition, art law, disputes over management and control
of corporations and partnerships, and construction law. A former federal
prosecutor, Paul also represents individuals and organizations in the defense
of white collar criminal cases.
Paul has tried cases in federal and state courts, conducted arbitrations before
the tribunals of the American Arbitration Association, and has argued appeals
before the United States Courts of Appeal and New York's Appellate Division.
He is a member of the New York and District of Columbia Bars and the United
States Court of Appeals for the Second, Fifth, Eleventh and Federal Circuits,
the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Western Districts
of New York, and the United States Courts of Federal Claims and International
Trade. Paul belongs to the American Bar Association and the Association of the
Bar of the City of New York, where he is a member of the Art Law Committee..
Paul received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School in 1976 and an LLM. from Tulane Law School in 1983.. Prior to becoming Counsel to Lynn & Cahill in 2007, Paul was a partner in the business litigation department of Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP for 18 year. Prior to that Paul was the Deputy Chief of the U. S. Department of Justice Torts Branch office in New York, an Assistant United States Attorney in the U. S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Louisiana (New Orleans), a staff attorney in the Enforcement Division in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s New York Regional Office and an Examining Attorney and Bureau Chief at the New York City Department of Investigation.
